The slideshow of images for the upcoming Conference is inspired by the towns and cities that have lent their names to important treaties and agreements which have shaped the EU and the lives of the millions of Europeans. Rome and Paris, of course, and Maastricht and Schengen, but also Copenhagen, Dublin, Amsterdam and Lisbon.
But rather than depict these cities in terms of their skyline, we have chosen instead photographs that suggest domains of human activity that have been marked by European policy—though not necessarily by the treaty associated with the particular city. We hope these images call to mind things such as the encounter of cultures, the circulation of goods and persons, the notion of standards and measurement, the production and dissemination of knowledge, the reuse of heritage and other concepts.
As we did for the previous Conference, we invite you to contribute to the home page by sharing a photograph of yours taken in these cities. You can get an idea of the kinds of photographs we’re hoping to receive from the images in the current slider, though these are just a suggestion. The minimum image size for the submitted photos is 900x600 pixels. If it’s larger, we will need to resize and/or crop the image. The final decision for what appears on the website is the Conference Editorial Team.
Either email us the image at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or send us the link for us to download the image. In your message, please indicate the city or town in which it was taken (and if you like, what it depicts) and provide us with your name or the username you wish to appear in the attribution.
If you wish, provide us a link to your online photo gallery (e.g. flickr photostream) if you wish. Please also state that you are giving us permission to use the photograph for non-commercial purposes on the Conference website.
We look forward to receiving your submission!
